On August 28, 1945, when Mao Zedong flew to Chongqing and negotiated with Chiang Kai-shek, Guo Moruo saw that Mao Zedong was not wearing a watch, and he gave him his Omega watch. Mao Zedong wore it with great cherishment until his death. The dial, watch cover and strap have been replaced. The old strap was replaced on August 3, 1966.
Guo Moruo’s Omega Watch for Mao Zedong
Guo Guoruo and Mao Zedong first met in Guangzhou on March 23, 1926. Since then, the literary giant and a generation of leaders have formed a profound revolutionary friendship. Guo Moruo and Mao Zedong’s several poems sang and became an ancient story. In his letter to Mao Moruo, Mao Zedong looked up and called Guo Moruo more brother Moruo and Guo Lao. On November 21, 1944, Mao Zedong wrote to Guo Moruo: ‘Brother Moruo, I am envious of your achievements. We will treat your’ Jiashen 300th Anniversary Ceremony ‘as a rectification document …’ During the Chongqing negotiations in September 1945, Guo Moruo gave Mao Zedong the watch he was using. This Swiss Omega watch was worn by Mao Zedong until his death.
Mao Zedong’s watches are rare. Photos of Mao Zedong’s watches are even rarer. The only one published so far on September 30, 1959, which was taken by Xinhua News Agency reporter Du Xiuxian, can almost be considered a solitary one. According to Du Xiuxian, Khrushchev, the top leader of the CPSU, was about to fly to the Capital Airport and was invited to participate in the 10th anniversary celebration of the founding of our country. Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai met at the airport in person. Du Xiuxian arrived a little that night and saw that the plane had not arrived yet, and felt that there was no title to shoot. It was the moment when Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai stretched their wrists at each other to watch. Du Xiuxian clicked and took this historical moment into the camera. Because Deng Xiaoping is also on this photo, the ‘information content’ of this photo is already precious by the characters alone, plus the rare plot of Mao Zedong watching his watch in public, although the picture is not very Clear, the value of its historical materials is also hard to buy. At that time, the watch on Mao Zedong’s wrist must be the one that Guo Moruo gave him in 45 years, and Zhou Enlai’s watch was probably a domestic Shanghai brand.
On New Year’s Day in 1963, Mao Zedong read Guo Manruo’s ‘Man Jiang Hong-New Year’s Eve Book’ in the Guangming Daily. This verse is written just as the Chinese people have just emerged from the three years of difficult times, singing the ‘heroic character’ of the people and their leaders with full passion. Mao Zedong felt it. On January 9th, he wrote ‘Man Jiang Hong-He Guo Moruo’. ‘The sea is turbulent, the water is angry, and the continent is shaken by wind and thunder.’
During the Cultural Revolution, Zhou Enlai included Guo Moruo in the list of cadres that should be protected, and Mao Zedong approved it. Although Guo Moruo suffered from misfortunes, he was finally prevented from being doomed by the Red Guards. In the summer of 1978, Guo Moruo still mentioned Mao Zedong at the end of his life, and he confirmed his deep friendship with Mao Zedong with the last spark of his life.
Rare Mao Zedong Watch Watch Photos
Mao Zedong had to send Chen Long three times to guard himself, but he was declined. When Mao Zedong went to negotiate in Chongqing, the whole party was very worried because Chiang Kai-shek used no means to murder political opponents. The Central Committee decided to send Chen Long as a defender with Secretary Mao Zedong. At present, Mao Zedong defends the ‘Three Dragons’. In addition to Chen Long, there are also Long Feihu and Yan Tailong. Before Chen Long left, Li Kenong released the revolver he had worn for many years and gave it to him.
A few days after she arrived in Chongqing, Chen Long watched various movements day and night, and she was obviously tired. Mao Zedong saw the distressed, ordered him to sleep one day and one night, and asked Wang Ruofei to supervise. Once, at the China-Soviet Friendship Association to attend the welcome party, the enthusiastic crowd cheered on a small wooden building. When Chen Long noticed that the stairs were trembling and the plaster was falling on the wall, he immediately agreed with Zhou Enlai to sack Mao Zedong away, so as to avoid a building collapse injury. After Mao Zedong returned to Yan’an in Chongqing for 43 days, his evaluation of Chen Long was “Faithful” and broke the example of never giving gifts within the party. He gave away an Omega watch from someone else. Who knew that Jiang Qing had asked Chen Long in private to say that he wanted to take a look. After reading it, he used his wristwatch to swap with him. Literature has not recorded whether this watch is the one sent by Guo Moruo, that is, the one in the photo above. There is no record of whether Jiang Qing returned it to Chairman Mao after taking it back.
After Mao Zedong returned to Yan’an from Chongqing, he wanted to keep Chen Long in charge of guards. Chen Long said that he was from Northeast China, and he needed cadres there. After the Party Central Committee entered Peiping in 1949, Mao Zedong intentionally transferred him again. Chen Long went to Beijing to explain in person that the guards around the chairman were only passive defenses, and his own specialty was to take the initiative to arrest enemy special agents. In 1954, Mao Zedong wanted to reassign him from the Ministry of Public Security to Zhongnanhai, and Chen Long excused himself because of his bad health. The above reasons for declining rejection do exist, but Chen Long and his intimate comrades have said that another reason is that they are not familiar with Jiang Qing, and are worried that their upright personality will not get along with them.
毛泽东 On May 10, 1976, when Mao Zedong met with Hua Guofeng, he took out an omega watch and gave it to Hua Guofeng as a memorial. According to the Central Communist Party’s documentary records, this Omega watch was given to Mao Zedong by Dong Biwu. I just don’t know if this watch is still being preserved by the Chinese family, it should be a very precious historical witness.
The three gift-giving stories that Mao Zedong saw only three times all happened on the Omega brand, which shows Mao’s trust and cherishment of this watch.
