    This exhibition shows the wonderful evolution of Omega’s unique coaxial escapement. Although this mechanism is small, it has since changed the definition of superior movement, bringing a huge innovation to the entire watch industry. The exhibition is divided into four areas, each showing the technical details of the coaxial escapement system and silicon balance spring, while the representative watches equipped with coaxial movements of various ages also appeared in this exhibition. The Omega coaxial technology 3D holographic image next to the watchmaker’s workbench intuitively presents the characteristics of coaxial technology and silicon hairspring. Watchmakers from Switzerland also gave live demonstrations, demonstrating the intricate craftsmanship and sophisticated watchmaking technology inherent in Omega’s unique coaxial escapement.
    The coaxial escapement, Omega’s proud creation, began with a whimsical idea just before bedtime by British watchmaker and inventor George Daniel. One night when Daniel was preparing to sleep in the late 1960s, an idea suddenly emerged. He conceived a completely different device from the previous lever escapement system. By redesigning the heart part of this mechanical watch movement, he could Effectively reduce friction between components that transmit power and reduce the need for lubrication, thereby solving the problems that have plagued the watchmaking world for centuries. Excited Mr. Daniel picked up a piece of paper near the bed, quickly sketched the image in his head, and then fell asleep peacefully. In the early morning of the next day, Daniel began to study the coaxial escapement system. He believed that the model in the hand-drawn sketch could work effectively. After that, he began to contact the top Swiss watchmakers to discuss the mass production of this new mechanical system Possible. However, at that time the Swiss watchmaking industry had relied on traditional lever escapements for nearly 250 years, and the industry was generally cold-spoken about George Daniel’s new inventions. There is only one person who has the insight, and that is the founder and then chairman of the Swatch Group, Nicholas G. Hayek, who introduced the technology to Omega. In the following years, Omega engineers and technicians cooperated with Daniel to realize the industrial production of different parts of the coaxial escapement.     In 1999, Omega released the first watch with a revolutionary coaxial escapement. Eight years later, the 8500 coaxial movement was launched, creating a new era in mechanical watchmaking.
    Since then, Omega has continued to explore the coaxial road, optimized the structure of the coaxial escapement system, improved the original double-layer coaxial escapement wheel to a three-layer coaxial escapement wheel, and adopted a pioneering process to move the movement. The friction in the middle is minimized, which further improves the performance of the Omega coaxial watch. In 2007, Omega launched its 8500/8501 self-produced movement equipped with a coaxial escapement. This is the most remarkable step on the road of Omega coaxial innovation. For the first time, Omega designed the entire movement around a coaxial escapement. Each of the more than 200 components was designed and produced by Omega for a new movement. Later, the 8520/8521 coaxial movement specially designed for small-sized watches, the 8601/8611 coaxial movement with the instantaneous jump calendar function, the 9300/9301 coaxial chronograph movement, with the day of the week display and the instant jump The functional 8602/8612 coaxial movements and the 8605/8615 coaxial movements with GMT function have come out one after another.
